A sexual assault victim has written an account of the crime and its aftermath and delivered it directly to her attacker, a star swimmer at Stanford University in the US. The young woman read a condensed version of her statement in court at the hearing and she detailed the assault, the invasive exam she underwent to collect evidence and the interrogation of the court trial: “Assault is not an accident. This is not a story of another drunk college hook-up with poor decision making…Alcohol is not an excuse”.
